About Rozana Montiel Estudio de Arquitectura

Rozana Montiel Estudio de Arquitectura is an office founded by architect Rozana Montiel that works simultaneously as a design practice and an urban research space. Besides designing and building, the studio investigates and theorises about the city, with constant attention to shared spaces and collective life.

Its best-known work is the rehabilitation of public spaces in housing estates, such as the Común-Unidad project in the San Pablo Xalpa housing unit in Azcapotzalco, where roofs, courts and play areas were redesigned with community participation. Alongside that line are houses in Valle de Bravo, such as Casa Nidos and Pabellones Cosmos, built with a restrained ecological footprint.

The studio has taken part in the Mexican Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and received the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture. Its practice argues that small actions, repeated and added together, end up building the city.
