About CO-LAB Design Office

CO-LAB Design Office is an architecture and design-build studio founded in 2010 by Joana Gomes and Joshua Beck, based in downtown Tulum, Quintana Roo. Its office doubles as a design studio and workshop, allowing it to prototype furniture, objects and accessories and to experiment with materials and finishes.

The firm specialises in residential and hospitality architecture inspired by the Yucatecan and Caribbean landscape, with works such as Casa Aviv, Casa Areca, the Tulum Treehouse and the Luum Temple, a bamboo pavilion designed with parametric software. Its projects seek to dissolve the boundary between indoors and outdoors and to foster a connection with the natural surroundings.

Its services include full architectural design, interior design, landscaping and construction under a design-build model. It works mainly in Tulum and the Riviera Maya, handling residential and hospitality commissions of varied scale.
