About Carmeuse

Carmeuse is a Belgian lime and limestone group founded in 1860, headquartered in Louvain-la-Neuve, Walloon Brabant, and one of the longest-lived family companies in the construction materials sector. Its core business is the production of quicklime, hydrated lime and limestone products for construction, steelmaking, environmental applications and agriculture.

The group operates quarries and plants in Europe, the Americas and Asia, but keeps its management and identity in Belgium, where its Walloon deposits remain an important part of its production base. Its lime is used in mortars, soil stabilisation, water treatment and industrial processes, placing it on the border between building material and basic chemical product.

For the construction sector, Carmeuse is above all a supplier of limes and carbonates for mortars, renders and ground solutions, as well as an industrial partner in carbon capture projects linked to lime production. Its longevity and family ownership set it apart from the large listed cement groups.
