About Vagantes
Vagantes is an architecture and interior design studio founded in 2019 by Gina Góngora and Fernando Gómez in Mérida, Yucatán. Its work focuses on searching for spatial experiences through the intervention and reuse of disused spaces in Mérida’s historic centre.
Through multidisciplinary work, experimentation and the use of local materials, Vagantes emphasises analysis and research in each project. Its interventions include housing and hospitality, such as the Ariadna project, created with Esencial Studio from a heritage house in the historic centre and awarded gold and silver medals at the 2025 Yucatecan Architecture Biennial.
Together with Workshop, Vagantes also co-founded the Peatones festival, which opens houses and spaces in Mérida to the public to bring architecture, art and design closer to citizens. That cultural role makes it one of the most distinctive young practices in the southeast.
