About Sonae Arauco
Sonae Arauco, an alliance between Sonae Indústria and Arauco headquartered in Maia, is one of the world's largest wood-based panel producers, with Portuguese plants in Maia, Oliveira do Hospital and Mangualde. Its particleboard, MDF and melamine-faced boards serve furniture, interior design and construction, with a strong focus on recycled wood and the circular economy.
Its range combines boards, solid wood and wood derivatives for furniture, joinery, cladding and construction, with attention to dimensional stability, finish and raw-material origin. Products are chosen according to interior or exterior use, moisture exposure and the aesthetic requirements of the project.
For architects, joiners and contractors, the value of a wood supplier lies in the variety of species and finishes, availability and advice on installation and maintenance. Before specifying, it is worth confirming thicknesses, formats, treatments and moisture behaviour.
