About Precon
Precon, of Grupo Precon, is Central America's leading company in industrial precast concrete production, with block, joist-and-hollow-block, precast slab, decorative paving, New Jersey barrier and geotechnical systems. The joist-and-block slab system saves formwork timber and speeds up the floor, but it only works if spans, bearings and the design's compression layer are respected. Ask for the structural design or the manufacturer's span tables and do not improvise spacings or omit stiffeners on site.
During installation, prop as planned, place the welded mesh on spacers and cure the compression layer before loading the slab. A well-made precast element loses its advantage if installed without the propping and curing the system requires.
