About Miller & Maranta

Miller & Maranta is a Basel architecture practice founded in 1994 by Quintus Miller and Paola Maranta, with Jean-Luc von Aarburg as a later partner. Its work starts from place and atmosphere, in the Swiss tradition of analogous architecture.

The office designs schools, housing, museums and buildings in historic and Alpine settings, such as the Volta School in Basel and the Gletschergarten extension in Lucerne. Stone, timber and natural light play a central role in its buildings.

It is especially suited to projects where context, history and constructional craftsmanship are decisive, in both collective housing and public facilities in Switzerland.
