About MAD arkitekter
MAD arkitekter is a Norwegian practice founded in Oslo in 1997, with offices in several Norwegian cities, working in architecture, urbanism, landscape and interiors. Its working ethos puts the city and its people at the centre, with a strong commitment to sustainability and material reuse.
The studio is known for slender housing blocks in Bjørvika, for refurbishing its own headquarters with a high share of reused materials, and for neighbourhood and urban-space projects across Norway. Its interdisciplinary team works from furniture design to whole neighbourhoods.
For developers and municipalities, MAD arkitekter is suited to housing, offices, transformation of existing buildings and urban development, with a particular interest in solutions that cut embodied carbon and extend the useful life of buildings.
