About LANZA atelier

LANZA atelier is a studio founded in Mexico City in 2015 by Isabel Abascal and Alessandro Arienzo, a small team developing furniture, exhibitions, houses and pavilions. Its practice stands out for a unified focus on craft, collaboration and local context, and for challenging conventions of scale.

Its projects include houses in Cancún, Guanajuato and Valle de Bravo, public toilets and kiosks along the Ecatepec-Nezahualcóyotl cycle path, and community pavilions built after the 2017 earthquake in Ocuilan. In all of them, drawing, model-making and use work as tools for thinking, not merely as phases before construction.

In 2026 the studio was selected to design London’s Serpentine Pavilion, becoming the second Mexican office to receive that commission. The project, titled A Serpentine, takes the traditional English serpentine wall as a reference for achieving stability with less material.
