When contracting a steel structure, the scope must be written down: design, fabrication, anti-corrosion treatment, transport and assembly are separate items, each changing price and lead time. Ask for shop drawings and connection details before authorising fabrication.
During assembly, check plumb, levelling and bolt tightening, and do not paint over loose rust or grease. A well-fabricated structure can still fail in service if connections are executed without the control foreseen in the design.
