About Corporación AG
Corporación AG, known as Aceros de Guatemala, is Central America's largest steel producer, with its Sidegua plant in Masagua, Escuintla, melting billets in an electric arc furnace and converting them into rebar, wire rod, profiles, wire and mesh for construction. Its corporate headquarters are in zone 14 of the capital.
When buying reinforcing steel, verify grade, actual diameter, standard and batch certification, and do not accept unidentified rebar where the structural design requires a specific strength. The apparent saving on untraceable product is expensive if the structure fails to reach its designed capacity.
For profiles and mesh, compare thickness, coating — galvanising, for example — and tolerances, and protect the material from moisture and direct ground contact before installation. Light surface rust is not always a defect, but corrosion with loss of section should be rejected.
